April 2010 has changed the way people around the world look at travelling. So many were stranded in airports in Europe because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland. So many had business or family matters to attend to or simply holidays that didn't go the way they should have.

Travelling to Australia was never easy because of the distance but the prospect of something going wrong and adding more time to the long journey makes things even harder.

As a trip between London or Frankfurt to one of the Asian stops takes about 12 hours or more, Qantas did not rush to take back to the skies. They said the delay was needed to make sure the trips would be safe.

Here's more information about Qantas Australia, a bit about its history and where its name comes from.

Qantas has a low cost arm too for holiday makers and budget travellers. It is Jetstar Airways. See here where they fly.

Other low cost carriers that fly in Australia are:

  • Virgin Blue that can get you to some exotic places such as the pristine Australian islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean - the Cocos Islands, and
  • Tiger Airways that can save you a lot of money. See here how.

Below is more information about the new pages added on our website since the last newsletter.

As of 18 April, there is a new ticket system in Sydney for the rail, buses and ferries. We have updated the pages that describe Sydney public transport and Sydney ferries.

Until then, all the best,
