My visa independent 175 (PR) was granted on 10th December.
I am having 20 years experience in public sector as an electrician, I would like to do work in mining sector.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Hi Rajesh,

Congratulations on your visa.

With more power being generated and consumed everyday, your profession has good prospects, almost anywhere in the world.

You can get some tips about employment, how to look for jobs, how to access the "hidden job market" by visiting the Job Search Tips section of this site. Click on any of the headlines there to open up other pages with more information.

For example, there are some recruitment agencies listed on this Employment Agencies page. Go to their websites, register and send them your resume. Also check the Mining Jobs in Australia article.

Here are several job search sites, some more specific to your skills, others more general:

  • mycareer.com.au

Copy and paste them in your browser and start looking for vacant positions.

If you want to work in mining, focus on Western Australia, Queensland or Northern Territories. There are mines in the other states too, so keep your search criteria broad.

I hope these tips help you. Good luck.
