This newsletter is all about famous Australians, people who have worked hard to build a career from scratch and who became known all over the world. Follow this link to see why we included a section about stars and celebrities in a site about life in Australia.

Australians are generally laid-back but they are hardworking and ready to offer a helping hand when needed.

There are the unknown heroes, whose outstanding qualities come up in exceptional circumstances. This was recently the case of a teenager in Melbourne who rushed to save a baby from under a train. Read more about this in a Herald Sun article.

Then there are the scientists who persistently toil, research and experiment, the Nobel prize.

And then there are those people whose life is in the limelight, whose calling is to entertain others, whose skills get them to the top and make us avid to follow them and know more about them.

The following new pages in the site barely scratch the surface of the topic of famous Australian people, whether actors, entertainers or environmentalists.

So here are three of the Australian actors: Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, Eric Bana.

Then the two household names of Russell Crowe and Mel Gibson who contributed to the recognition of the Australian films internationally.

And three more stars, actresses Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Toni Colette.

Kylie Minogue, who has recently toured the US for the first time, ranks second on the 2009 top 50 richest Australian entertainers list announced by BRW. Keith Urban follows at number five. Read more about them in the famous Austalian singers page.

Other Austalian singers you will surely hear more about in the future are Gabriella Cilmi, Delta Goodrem and Natalie Imbruglia.

Australian opera has become recognised world wilde for Sydney Opera House and for two famous Australian women: prima donnas Melba and Joan Sutherland. They had amazing careers and have become legendary icons.

The world of glamour and fashion has powerful Australian celebrities: Elle Macpherson and Jennifer Hawkins and top models: Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr and Lara Bingle.

And as Australians love sports, they also take this activity very seriously. Olympic Australian success is a page about two gold athletes: Cathy Freeman and Ian Thorpe.

Thatís all for now. Iíll be adding more pages about Australia, life in Sydney and tips on how to make the most of it.

To get them visit my website often. And make sure to read the next issue of this newsletter in one month time.

Until then, have a good one.
