"Sydney Climate – The Vibes"

vivid sydney festival - opera house lights

Sydney climate is all about the vibrant atmosphere throughout the year: festivals and celebrations. And if there is nothing to celebrate we can always innovate.

For example the Vivid Sydney festival. While I am not sure what it really is celebrating, the display of lights in the Rocks was spectacular.

The lighting of the opera house for 3 weeks during end of May to mid June 2009 created a feverish atmosphere in the Circular Quay at night.

The event attracted huge crowds into the city. Just enough to give a boost to all local eateries and shops.

Images, patterns and colours changed throughout the night to create an atmosphere of fairy tales in blues, reds, ochres, greens, warm earthy colours and much, much more.

Sydney Climate – Italian Weddings

Italian weddings was the theme of the Primo Italiano festival organised in May 2009 by the City of Sydney to celebrate the Italian community.

The location in East Sydney, just behind the Australian museum is significant for Italian Australians.

A large number of Italian immigrants hit the shores of Sydney after World War 2 and found residence in this area of the city. They opened restaurants and cafes and strongly influenced Australian life, food and culture.

The Primo Italiano festival was big on food with flavoursome Italian cheeses and meats, pizza, seafood.

And to top it all - a real Italian wedding.

They took their vows in front of the audience that flooded the streets, decorated as an Italian piazza.

While the newly weds are actors, they did not act on the day – it was their legal wedding day, complete with the celebrant, reception, orchestra and bride and groom photos.
