Australia Working Visa

Employer Nomination Scheme 121/856

Australia working visa page provides some hints about the permanent residence visa for skilled people sponsored by Australian businesses that are seeking to fill some demanding roles. The information below is our understanding of the process. For the up-to-date, official and detailed information visit the department of immigration website: www.immi.gov.au

With population growing older almost everywhere and families having fewer children and later in life, shortage of skills has become the norm in modern economies.

Some professions are more demanding than others and can require certain competencies that are scarce locally.

That is why sometimes Australian companies are willing to sponsor talented workers that can fill the positions they need. With this sponsorship comes a permanent visa for working in this country.

Whether you are overseas or you are already down under working on a temporary permit, read the tips below to see whether they apply to your situation.

Australia Working Visa
Sponsorship - Who Can Apply

This permit is only for a specific full time position nominated by a business. You cannot apply for this permanent visa unless the employer offered you the job.

Also you need to prove that you have either:

  • already worked in that occupation on a temporary Australian work visa for at least two years. For all the details visit the department of immigration website by clicking here;
  • or

  • been offered a senior executive and highly paid job;
  • or

  • received a favourable skills assessment for the role and had the necessary experience in the occupation for at least 3 years.

Some of the other criteria are the usual ones that apply to many other permanent visas, such as those described in the Australia work visa pages for skilled independent and skilled migrants sponsored by relatives. Such criteria include:

  • competent English knowledge;
  • age – below 45;
  • health and character requirements.

If you are a highly talented business person or an owner of a company, you can find other options for permanent residency at the Australian working visas section of this site.

Do some research and see which choice is more suitable for you. Or check with an immigration lawyer as they can offer professional advice to help you better understand what to do.
