Issue 35

April is the leisure time with the Easter celebrations at the beginning of the month and the Anzac public holiday on the 25th.

So Easter in Australia happens in autumn, when the weather is still nice and good for some outdoor celebrations in the bush or at the beach.

It is the time to indulge in those chocolate eggs, bunnies or bilbies.

Don't know what a bilby is?

Here's a photo of a chocolate Easter bilbly next to another Aussie native, the wombat.

Though we prefer the egg-shaped feijoa fruit to the chocolate Easter eggs. Have a look at a photo we took of the home grown feijoas and let us know if you have tried them, by clicking here.

We didn't have enough of the long Easter weekend so took another short break midweek for the Anzac Day and went to Tea Gardens, a lovely place in Port Stephens, north of Newcastle.

Australia's second oldest city, Newcastle was a mandatory stop to check why it was rated as a top city to visit by Lonely Planet in 2011.

We discovered a really nice area with great beaches and huge ocean baths. Read here more about Newcastle and its top beaches.
